PET is in fact a sustainable packaging material because when comparing the environmental footprints of various packaging materials, plastic often performs better than glass or metal. The production of PET beverage bottles emits less carbon dioxide than the production of glass bottles. Plastic is also very lightweight and therefore produces fewer carbon emissions during transport than other packaging materials. And of course, PET also has the advantage that it can be recycled very easily and in a way that conserves resources.
