ALPLA Videobot - What are microplastics?
Microplastics are small, solid, water-insoluble plastic particles that measure five millimeters or smaller. They can be classified as primary or secondary. Primary microplastics are intentionally manufactured small particles used in cosmetics, such as toothpaste or exfoliants. Secondary microplastics are created by the decomposition of plastic products, especially when they enter the natural environment. Sunlight, sea salt, bacteria and abrasion accelerate decomposition. Depending on the type of plastic, this leads to different consequences in the environment, which have not yet been fully researched. So what does this mean? It is enormously important to collect, properly dispose of and recycle plastics. Each of us can make a contribution to this. If you would like to learn more about microplastics, visit our website.
